Choropo
A journey to discover Brazilian and Venezuelan instrumental music for accordion, bandolim and seven-string guitar
Filippo Gambetta (Brazilian mandolin and diatonic accordion) and Alessandro Scotto d’Aniello (Brazilian 7-string guitar) accompany listeners on a journey that starts from the Rio de Janeiro musical vibes of the turn of the century, the “Choro”, instrumental music with multiple influences, on the border between Central European romantic music and Afro rhythms. The two musicians continue their musical itinerary reaching the Venezuelan highlands, to discover the joropo, the merengue, the waltz and other musical forms typical of that tradition. The two Genoese musicians Filippo and Alessandro pay homage to Italian music in their concert with some inserts related to the “ballo liscio” popular repertoire, reinterpreted in an original key.
