Chocochoro
ChocoChoro is a project focused on the Brazilian Carioca instrumental music. Choro is considered the first genuinely Brazilian urban music genre and was developed in the early ‘900. Villa-Lobos defines it “the essence of the soul of Brazilian music”. Music to listen and dance to, that represents an encounter between the romantic European musical culture and the Afroamerican rhythms. The group ChocoChoro realized in 2014 an album which offers original arrangements of melodies composed by the fathers of Choro music (such as Pixinguinha, Ernesto Nazareth and Waldir Azevedo) as well as ones by more recent composers. The band is formed by three Italian musicians who share the passion for this kind of music: Marco Moro (flute), Filippo Gambetta (10 strings mandolin), and Fabrizio Forte (7-string guitar). The band’s debut album was broadcasted on the national Italian radio Rai Radio Tre programme Fahreneit in 2014 and also on the national German radio WDR.
